Ethical Expeditions selects twenty-eight Fellows each year who
demonstrate high levels of ethics, passion and entrepreneurialism.
For eight weeks, Fellows are immersed in a technology rich
environment, participate in critical international conservation
efforts and receive training to become leaders of the green
generation. Fellows work directly with scientists in East
Kalimantan to save rainforests and reefs in Borneo or with local
communities and conservation NGO’s to protect the biodiversity of
Zambia. Since knowledge is an essential ingredient to become an
effective leader, Fellows spend a portion of each day reinforcing
their experiences with knowledge. Each Fellow has an Amazon Kindle,
which serves as a digital library for social and environmental
topics. Fellows use laptops for writing blog entries, composing
weekly podcasts, working on research papers, conducting
experiments, and producing documentary videos. These short, 5-10
minute documentary videos, produced by Fellows in collaboration
with local community members, will address important environmental
and social issues. Documentaries will be posted on our website,
serving as powerful tools for creating awareness about global
issues. Each Fellow, as a trained social entrepreneur, will
initiate an environmental action project upon return to his/her
community. Ethical Expeditions will continue to support each Fellow
during and after the initiation of his/her environmental action
project.
Ethical Expeditions believes that fund raising is an important
component of becoming a successful social or environmental
entrepreneur. Each Fellow will be awarded a partial Fellowship and
Ethical Expeditions will assist Fellows in finding creative ways to
raise necessary funds for the expedition.
