Local News

Our local weekly newspaper, The Chief, recently published an article about what our local environmental group, Squamish CAN, will be doing for the International Day of Climate Action on October 24th. In the same article, the author highlighted Ethical Expeditions and included a wonderful student quote that perfectly summarizes the type of educa… Continue

Part of the "movement"

In Paul Hawken's book, Blessed Unrest, he speaks of the ever growing environmental movement; a movement with a small "m" because there is no official leader, but rather over ten million organizations world-wide working toward a similar goal. Today our local wonderful and budding environmental group, Squamish CAN (Climate Action Network), went on a day long field trip to explore our community wetlands, recycling center, solar water heater installation, an outdoor school, and farmer's market, all… Continue

Cloth Napkins

When we visited friends a few months ago, they inspired us to completely get rid of paper napkins and paper towels in our home. It has been an amazingly easy switch to use cloth instead. They are easily used for a few days and then hand washed or tossed into any load of laundry. It also just feels nicer. I highly recommend it to everyone! And thanks to Renata and Chance for the inspiration.

Bike or Walk

I generally bike or walk into town and if I do drive, I combine as many errands as possible to fully take advantage of using the car.

Baby Green Sea Turtles

Magic. Pure and simple magic. I helped baby sea turtles make it to the ocean yesterday and two nights ago and I am still basking in the experience. I felt like I was experiencing the miracle of life for the first time. The fact that these green sea turtles are highly endangered and our actions helped to increase the chances that a few more may survive wasn’t even on my mind as we watched the babies emerge through the sand from their underground nest; I was just in pure and simple awe. They were… Continue

Hi Sheryl,

Thanks for touching base. It sounds like you two continue to expand your learning as you share about your program. I look forward to following the fellows during the January expedition. As for me, I am in St. Petersburg with a group of students. It is something to see the changes since I was last here in the early 90's.

We will start our traveling in Morocco this coming weekend so we will be sharing some photos of our family expeditions. We are ready to see Morocco!

Best to you and Brent,
David

Hi Sheryl, you mentioned the Rosetta Stone for getting a small base for the language in Borneo, are the native dialects close enough to the Indonesian rosetta program that it is worth getting?

Hi Sheryl, You and Brent have done a fabulous job in developing this site, as well as the education and action plan undergirding it. I'm looking forward to watching EE's sphere of influence grow. Today's kids are tomorrow's leaders, and educating them about our global needs is crucial. I'm in the process of developing materials for my classroom regarding recent research in Antarctica concerning global warming and the impact on the environment, and have already put together a unit on new species discovered in the Mekong River Valley. Thanks for all you are doing to inform educators; I'm thankful to be one of them!
